Where can I purchase the travel card?

You can purchase your Paris Visite travel card from ticket offices and automatic ticket machines.

At a ticket office you will be given a magnetic ticket and the accompanying non-transferable card. However, should you make your purchase at a ticket machine you will only receive the magnetic ticket. You should then request the non-transferable card at a nearby ticket office or information counter. Without this non-transferable card you will be travelling in breach of the law.

What you must do before using the travel card for the first time

In order for your Paris Visite travel card to be valid you must write your first and last names on the non-transferable card prior to first use. Make sure that you also write the serial number of the card on the magnetic ticket and, if it has not already been done, add the start and finish dates of the period of validity. Once they are named, the ticket and card are personal and non-transferable.

  • validate your ticket when entering the metro, bus, tram and RER, as well as any time that you come across an inspection machine whilst you are travelling.
