Defibrillators available throughout our networks
RATP has installed defibrillators for its passengers in nearly thirty metro and train stations.
Defibrillators in metro and RER rapid transit stations
Since summer 2010, RATP has installed defibrillators in heavily frequented metro and train stations. This easy-to-use equipment is fully automatic and does not require any prior training. The defibrillators have already proven their usefulness and have helped save numerous lives.

Defibrillators are very easy to use
RATP’s defibrillators emit audio and visual instructions, making them easy to use. However, they are only available through RATP staff, via emergency intercoms located in metro and RER rapid transit stations. A sign near the intercom indicates that a defibrillator is available.
RATP has also installed defibrillators in its main service centres, as well as in major construction sites that it oversees.
How to use a defibrillator
Simply use the intercom to contact RATP staff, who will immediately notify emergency services. A defibrillator will be brought to where the victim is located. The automatic device guides the user through each step. It is designed to be used by people who have never used one before. It is a public-spirited gesture that needs no prior training. A defibrillator is comprised of two electrodes, which are placed on the victim. The electrodes detect fibrillation in the heart and allow for intervention in the event of a heart attack. Pictograms light up during each phase of the diagnosis and indicate what to do. The defibrillator gives vocal instructions, which are simultaneously displayed on an LCD screen. The device will advise the user to stand back, and the electric shock is given automatically, without need for intervention. |
