A dozen network extension projects in progress

As part of a State-Region project contract, RATP is currently engaged in a dozen projects to extend or create metro, tram and bus lines. Engineering teams, project owners, project managers and territorial development agencies are being mobilised throughout Ile-de-France in order to offer new transport solutions for the people of the region, in collaboration with STIF.

Three metro lines under construction, two more planned

110 years after Paris’s first metro line was opened, RATP’s 14 metro lines are extending ever further into the city’s outskirts. Following the extension of line 13 in 2008, lines 4, 8 and 12 will, between now and the end of 2012, be respectively extended to serve Montrouge in the south, Créteil in the east and Aubervilliers in the north.

Picto METROMétro ligne 4 Extension of Mairie de Montrouge and Bagneux – Target opening date: 2012
The first step in extending line 4 beyond its southernmost point at Porte d’Orléans will be completed with the inauguration of a new station at Mairie de Montrouge. A second phase will take line 4 as far as Bagneux, extending the line by 3.3 km and three stations.

Picto METROMétro ligne 8 Extension of Pointe du Lac – Target opening date: end of 2011
The extension of the line and the opening of a new terminal at Créteil–Pointe du Lac will make it easier for people from the Val-de-Marne department to use this line, which will be interconnected with the forthcoming Pompadour • Sucy–Bonneuil bus link, the RER A and D (at the forthcoming Pompadour station) and the RER C via Val-de-Marne’s high-speed bus service (TVM).

Picto METROMétro ligne 12 Extension of Proudhon–Gardinoux and Mairie d'Aubervilliers – Target opening date:  2012
The 3 km extension of line 12 from Porte de la Chapelle to Mairie d’Aubervilliers will create a much wanted link between Paris and the Plaine Saint-Denis/Aubervilliers area, for a cost of €198.5 million. The first stage of the project is scheduled for completion by 2012, with the fitting-out of Proudhon–Gardinoux station (as it has been provisionally named) and the creation of an additional entrance at Porte de la Chapelle. A second stage will culminate in the building of Pont de Stains and Mairie d’Aubervilliers stations.

Creation of an dedicated bus line

In an effort to strengthen the public transport network and improve service in the towns of Créteil, Valenton, Bonneuil-sur-Marne and Sucy-en-Brie, the ‘Pompadour • Sucy–Bonneuil’ project is a dedicated bus line. Running between the Pompadour crossroads and the Sucy–Bonneuil RER station, it is due to be implemented progressively between the end of 2010 and summer 2011.
