Supporting local communities

RATP is in direct contact with the towns, cities and people of Ile-de-France. Its day-to-day activities bring it face-to-face with some harsh social realities, such as the social exclusion of the homeless, which is visible in its underground networks, or other forms of exclusion in certain areas. Over the years, the company has acquired a great deal of experience and know-how that can help it contribute to the resolution of certain social problems.

The RATP Group Foundation commitment

The efforts of the RATP Group Foundation to promote greater respect in urban areas, as well as its sponsorship of social projects, reflect the company’s will to foster social cohesion in the areas it serves. Through these activities, it helps to promote dialogue between RATP and local stakeholders.

In 2009, the RATP Foundation supported around a hundred projects to encourage a more harmonious social environment, a key element for public transport. Since its creation in 1995, the Foundation has supported nearly 500 projects.

Partnerships with local communities

RATP wants to contribute to the socio-economic development of the areas it serves. To this end, it establishes links with all local stakeholders (local authorities, associations promoting inclusion, local employment task forces, etc.), particularly in the most disadvantaged areas. Created in 2002, RATP’s Territorial Development Agencies help implement the company’s policy in the most vulnerable areas.

In partnership with the relevant stakeholders, RATP conducts preventive initiatives (guidance, education, etc.) through its network of staff members.

Continuing the exemplary record of the Recueil Social

RATP set up the Recueil Social in the early nineties to provide day-to-day support to the most underprivileged people in our society. It offers these people initial assistance and guides them towards specialist organisations if they so wish. RATP is committed to continuing the work of this body, which is run by volunteers, and to stepping up its activity during the current economic crisis.
