Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Kennedy, Charles de Gaulle, Ernesto “Che” Guevara, Nikita Khrushchev and Alfred Hitchcock. All were photographed by American photographer Elliott Erwitt. From 23 March to 15 August 2023, Musée Maillol gives pride of place to the photographer through its “Elliott Erwitt. Une rétrospective.“ exhibition. There, you will discover 215 black-and-white and coloured photographs that illustrate close to a half-century of the American photographer’s work.
As a member of the Magnum agency since 1954, Elliott Erwitt was also known for highlighting numerous issues through his photographs. This exhibition puts a spotlight on his slice-of-life pieces as well as celebrity portraits and his journalistic work.
The retrospective will delight visitors wishing to see the artist’s iconic photos as well as visitors wanting to (re)discover Elliot Erwitt’s extensive world.
