Cycling service

The daily use of bikes is developing quickly in urban areas and notably in the Île-de-France region. RATP aims to become a key operator in global and sustainable mobility to meet new passenger expectations while staying on target regarding the objectives set by the LOM (Law on mobility orientation). RATP has been developing projects and implementing solutions to accommodate bikes as a fully-fledged mobility mode to facilitate access to its metro, RER and tram networks.

Cycling: rules and habits

Due to lack of space, carrying your bike on the metro, bus and tram networks or the Montmartre funicular is not allowed.

However, you are allowed to carry a bike on metro line 1 until 4:30 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. You may then ask a station staff member to open the service gate for you.

You can carry your bike onto the RER network:

  • all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays,
  • before 6:30 a.m., from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and after 7 p.m. all other days.

Your bike must then be placed on one of the platforms indicated with the following icon:
