Starting from 7 April 2023, come and explore the Ramses and the Pharaohs’ Gold exhibition at the Grande Halle de la Villette with more than 180 original artefacts, some of which have never left Egypt before, brought together to form an exceptional collection. A breathtaking treasure dating back more than 3,000 years, including unique jewels, spectacular royal death masks, and the furniture found in the intact tombs of Tanis.
The journey will begin with a film that presents impressive panoramic views, followed by a detailed exploration of the life of Ramses, and the famous rediscovery in 1881 of a hidden cache in the Theban necropolis in which lay Ramses and several other royal mummies. The exhibition will also offer a virtual reality tour of the fabulous temple of Abu Simbel and the tomb of Nefertari.
The “Ramses and the Pharaohs’ Gold” exhibition is a unique experience and recreates the ornamentations of remarkable Egyptian monuments by using completely new drone shots taken through privileged access to a number of iconic Egyptian sites.
This exhibition was built on the model of the Grande Halle de La Villette’s 2019 Tutankhamun exhibition, which attracted 1.42 million visitors, an absolute record for France. The Ramses exhibition was held in two US cities (Houston and San Francisco) before arriving in Europe (Paris, London).
