01. A key player in sustainable mobility
As experts in public transport modes, we are helping cities in their fight against automobile congestion and air pollution, and in their quest to provide modern mobility solutions for their inhabitants.
We are enriching and diversifying our transport solutions with complementary services that offer improved “door-to-door” continuity, while integrating the notions of eco-mobility (walking and cycling, as well as car, bike and ride sharing schemes) in our infrastructure development projects.
02. Reducing our carbon footprint
Right from the start of the design phase, we take into account the environmental impact that our infrastructure projects will have over the course of their life cycle. Our eco-design and eco-specification procedures are part of a circular economic model. In the Île-de-France region, the new garage and maintenance sites of our new tramway lines consume very little energy, thanks to solar panels, heat pumps connected to geothermal probes, heat exchangers, etc.
Striving to be exemplary in our network operations and maintenance, we have adopted an environmental management policy to save natural resources (materials, energy, water, land, etc.) and reduce environmental risks.
We are working tirelessly to reduce emissions of all kinds, by limiting energy consumption and emissions and by improving the energy efficiency of our transport systems. Our new metro trains in the Île-de-France region are equipped with an all-electric braking system that allows us to recuperate energy and reinject it into the network.
03. Bus2025, a fleet of 4700 green buses by 2025
With our Bus2025 plan, we have embarked on a major technological and ecological transformation with STIF’s support: to convert the 4700 buses in the Île-de-France region into a green fleet that is 80% electric and 20% biogas. This bold challenge will allow us to reduce our carbon footprint by 50% and become the first ecological bus fleet in Europe. Large-scale experimentation and testing of numerous systems in real situations will enable us to master all of the technologies and problems of an electric bus network.
04. Social and societal responsibility
We contribute to the development of the communities we serve by implementing skills training and job insertion policies for youth and people excluded from the job market.
The RATP Group Foundation participates in this economic and social dynamic by developing close ties with the inhabitants of the communities where we do business, with actions to provide access to employment, education and culture. In France and aboard, the Foundation relies on our local subsidiaries, which are closest to the needs of the community.
05. For a mixed, citizen-oriented city
In the Île-de-France region, we are inventing the city of tomorrow by transforming our industrial sites into integrated living spaces under our modernisation programmes, which optimise precious urban real estate. Our garage and maintenance sites are being rethought and incorporated within bold architectural entities that accommodate a combination of low-income and private housing, public facilities (middle schools, kindergartens, cultural centres, new pathways, etc.) that create social bonds, and office space above or within our industrial sites. We have launched eight urban renewal projects for sites containing bus depots or metro maintenance centres, with a target of creating 2000 new residences within the Paris city limits.
