Eastern extension of the T1, from Noisy-le-Sec to Val-de-Fontenay

Tramway T1 from Bobigny to Val de Fontenay will serve Bobigny, Noisy-le-Sec, Romainville, Montreuil, Rosny-sous-Bois and Fontenay-sous-Bois.

The eastern extension will contribute to the area’s transformation by keeping pace with development projects sponsored by the local government, and by restructuring public spaces. The T1 extension will boost the public transport network in the eastern part of the Île-de-France region while improving passenger comfort. Ultimately, the T1 will provide connections with the Asnières-les-Courtilles–Bobigny segment of the T1, metro lines M5, M11 and M15, RER A and E, and the T Zen 3. It will be rounded off by the reorganisation of the bus network.

Advantages

  • Travel time between Bobigny and Val de Fontenay: 35 minutes
  • Travel time between the future Place Carnot station (Romainville) and the Noisy station: only 8 minutes.
  • Trams will run every 4 minutes during peak hours, and every 6 minutes during off-peak hours.
  • The new tramways will be more spacious, with a capacity of 200 passengers.
  • More than 500 trees will be planted along the tramway’s route.
  • CO2 emissions will be reduced by 800 tonnes a year.

Service quality

  • Regular, reliable tram service thanks to fully dedicated lanes for most of the route, and priority at traffic lights.
  • Tramway stations and trams are accessible for persons with reduced mobility.
  • Travel time: 35 minutes between Bobigny and Val de Fontenay.

Urban integration

The tramway will be accompanied by urban developments that take into account all users of surface roads.

Pedestrians will enjoy wider sidewalks, and urban furniture will be positioned to facilitate worry-free circulation of families and persons with reduced mobility.
Bike routes will be created along the tramway’s route: 20 km, with about 5 km in Noisy-le-Sec, including Avenue Gallieni and Boulevard Michelet.

As part of this project, the centre of Noisy-le-Sec will become accessible with 2-way automobile traffic. A 400m segment of the tramway at rue Jean Jaurès is not a designated lane, and trams, cars and bicycles will have to share the road, as safely as possible.

  • 2017: start-up of construction
