We strongly recommend postponing your trip and planning your travel in advance, especially during the weekdays of the mentioned periods.

Why are these works necessary?

To the north of the line, maintenance and modernization work on the infrastructure continues in the evening. During the period when the Paris section will be closed in the evening, teams will also continue the construction of the Saint-Michel–Notre-Dame station. These are preparatory works for the renovation of the station, addressing water infiltration issues, and modernizing the drainage system.

For the weekend and extended weekend works, different modernization programs will be carried out:

  • Between Aulnay-sous-Bois and Le Bourget, new track equipment will be installed. These infrastructures provide additional solutions to maintain the line’s operation in the event of an incident.
  • Between Gare du Nord and Aulnay-sous-Bois, alongside the works for the construction of the Charles de Gaulle Express, the RER B line will undergo a catenary regeneration program.
  • Between Aulnay-sous-Bois and Charles de Gaulle 2 Airport, as part of the modernization phases, several station platforms will be upgraded to accommodate the future MI20 trains, which are larger than the MI79 and MI84 trains. Additionally, a new footbridge will be installed at Parc des Expositions station.
  • To the south of the line, the renewal project for the Bourg-la-Reine signaling center will enter a new phase. This is the most important control center on the southern part of the line, managing switches for the sections between Denfert-Rochereau and La Croix de Berny/Robinson. The aim of these works is to improve the operational robustness of the line and prepare for the arrival of the NExTEO B&D system, which will work with the future MI20 trains.
  • During the evening closure between La Croix de Berny and Le Guichet, a new rectifier station will be tested and commissioned to provide power to major installations located at Massy-Palaiseau, including the maintenance workshops and the new pit jack system, ready to accommodate the new MI20 trains.
  • Finally, the works in the Paris Nord area, requiring the interconnection disruption at Gare du Nord, will impact several lines, including the RER B. This major project, managed by SNCF Réseau, involves the replacement of a 130-year-old bridge. The interconnection disruption periods from January to May correspond to the new phase of assembly of the "Cathedrals Bridge."
