The T1 Station Modernization Project

Started in 2020, the modernization works on the T1 tram line will conclude by the end of 2024. Therefore, further closures can be expected soon.

Named the "T1 Tramway Line Modernization Project," this coordinated action program aims to address the traffic difficulties experienced by the line, anticipate the upcoming extensions planned towards Rueil-Malmaison in the west and Fontenay-sous-Bois in the east, and prepare for the renewal of the tram fleet.

As part of this project, the original 19 stations along the route, from Saint-Denis Station to Bobigny Town Hall, will be transformed. Each of these stations will undergo a works program to better accommodate passengers on the line and improve traffic flow. Only your station, La Courneuve - 8 May 1945, is not part of the program; it was already refurbished in spring 2017.

During the works

Some stations will be closed, but there will be no interruption in the T1 tram line service:

  • An average station closure duration of 6 months;
  • Works will proceed in groups of four stations to minimize disruptions;
  • No consecutive stations will be closed during the same period;
  • Pedestrian directional signage will be installed to guide passengers to the open stations.

Modernized platforms

  • Larger platforms: To facilitate boarding and alighting, all platforms will be extended from 24 to 30 meters. In some stations, they will also be widened.
  • Enhanced accessibility: Stations will be equipped with new access points from the street and new pedestrian crossings. They will be fitted with ramps for people with reduced mobility, parents with strollers, and passengers with luggage.
  • Optimized circulation around stations: For increased safety and comfort, the areas surrounding some stations may be redesigned.
  • More pleasant waiting areas: These spaces will be modernized. The new shelters and seating will be more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.
