The extension of Line 4 was commissioned on January 13, 2022, connecting Mairie de Montrouge station to the new terminus at Bagneux – Lucie Aubrac. Every day, an additional 37,000 passengers use Line 4 at Barbara and Bagneux – Lucie Aubrac stations.
The goal of this extension: to enhance rail service in the inner suburbs. The extended Line 4 is positioned between Metro Line 13 to the west and RER Line B to the east. Connected to the future orbital Metro Line 15, it strengthens the rail network in the Île-de-France region. The project was designed to fully support the urban development of Bagneux and Montrouge, particularly the revitalization initiatives within the Victor Hugo eco-district ZAC in Bagneux.

Technical challenge
The extension corresponds to six years of construction works that included a 1.8 km tunnel extension and the construction of 2 new stations in a dense urban environment, as well as the construction of a new 1,500 m2 train repair center. A true technical challenge met by the teams mobilized.
Ligne 4 : la propreté en coulisses au service des voyageurs
Sur la ligne 4 du métro parisien, la propreté s’organise chaque jour en arrière-plan pour garantir un cadre agréable aux voyageurs.
Une fois par mois, les rames sont entièrement nettoyées à l’atelier de Saint-Ouen. Intérieurs et extérieurs sont traités avec du matériel adapté, et les trains sont temporairement mis hors tension afin de préserver durablement le matériel.
En complément, un nettoyage courant renforcé est réalisé en dehors des heures de pointe, entre 9h30 et 15h30, sans perturber la circulation. À Porte d’Orléans, ancien terminus, une équipe de trois agents peut nettoyer une rame en une vingtaine de minutes. En moyenne, 15 rames sont ainsi traitées chaque jour. Smart Traceur, l’outil interne, permet de suivre et coordonner l’ensemble de ces interventions pour optimiser l’efficacité des équipes.
