How does it work?

You can file a complaint letter with our staff (in French or English) at all station ticket desks in Paris, provided you fulfil the following conditions:

  • You are a foreign or French tourist (not an Île-de-France region resident).
  • The theft occurred without violence, in a metro or RER station or train, and you are not able to identify the thief immediately.
  • Your stolen property’s maximum estimated value is inferior to €1,000.

Filing the claim immediately and obtaining a copy of the report can serve as evidence of the damage sustained to present quickly to your insurance and all relevant services.

The ability to file a claim on the RATP network can save police services a significant amount of time, however you can choose to file your claim directly at the police or gendarmerie station of your choosing.

This service is part of a signed contract between RATP, the Paris tribunal and the police prefecture as of August 2018.
